RE: Opinions: Small Companies running Domino ~Pippy Asaboosikonyetsi 14.Jan.03 06:38 PM a Web browser General All Releases; 6.0Windows 2000, Windows NT, Linux - RedHat
I would happily recommend Domino to any small business.
We've been running Domino in our department (about 20 people) for about 10 years (the rest of the company, around 250 people use Exchange for email).
Put Domino on a Linux server and you will get a system which:
- Just runs and runs...
- Doesn't email viruses to all your contacts...
- Doesn't need a lot of maintenance.
- Comes with a couple of simple and usable applications to start off with.
- You can work over the Internet and encrypt your traffic "out-of the box" (no need for VPN's).
- Is great for sharing Phone books and any other lists/databases that you may have in Excel/Access today.
- You can deploy a simple Intranet "Portal" where you collect the email, calendar, ToDo's, Notes applications and links to web pages, etc.
Btw: The rest of the company still uses Exchange for email, but Notes is soon also part of the standard package as it is a great tool of keeping track on all the ISO 9001 related work.
